Plans? What Plans?

“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps”
-Proverbs 16:9

Some of you may have been following my posts on this blog about the direction my life is heading. I have previously posted about feeling tugged by God to go in a different direction than I was headed in my career. I fully believed God was leading me to become a teacher, more specifically a High School Math teacher. That was my plan. So off I headed to school, again, squeezing it in between my time working and taking care of my family.

Well, here’s where the story takes a turn. God opened up an opportunity for me to teach at Mount Vernon Nazarene University as an adjunct Business instructor. I taught a class or two in the evenings as part of their AGS (Adult and Graduate Studies) program, and REALLY enjoyed it. However, I thought that was just God showing me that I was headed in the right direction as a teacher.

Then about 5 months ago, God said pretty clearly, “Ok, I have you ready now. Time to do what I want you to do.” A full time Assistant Professor of Management position opened up with MVNU and I was offered the position! What an amazing God we serve!

So I start my new position, career, and “ministry” on July 1 of this year, and can hardly wait. It is an exciting opportunity to use the talents God has given me to glorify him and also make an impact on so many people that go through the program.

I have heard it said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.” I think my good friend and AC180 partner Aaron is learning that lesson, as well as many others. It is an incredible lesson that some of us have to learn, that God does have a plan for us and we just need to seek out His plans and His will for all we do and the blessing will come as a Downpour! (Good Bible Study if you are looking for one – but that’s for another post…)

    Mike –

WOW! How exciting is THAT? Very cool. What’s really funny is I am a graduate of none other than the business program at one Mount Vernon Nazarene University! We gotta talk. Very cool. May God bless this opportunity and may you continue to grow and learn as he guides your steps. How funny is it that we will probably end up in your beloved state of Indiana and you will end up where I graduated from? God’s got a HUGE sense of humor. Very cool.
