Monday-After-Thanksgiving Funnies

Well, after a nice 5-day break, it is back to the old grindstone. I always go through a let down after holidays because I so look forward to the time together with family and friends and not work. So for all of you out there, here is a little after-Thanksgiving pick-me-up:

*You’re No Longer A Kid When…*

You’re No Longer A Kid When…

– Driving a car doesn’t always sound like fun.

– You have friends who have kids.

– You are taller than the slide at the McDonald’s playland.

– Your parents’ jokes are now funny.

– Naps are good.

– When things go wrong, you can’t just yell, “Do-over!”

– You WANT clothes for Christmas.

– You look in the surveillance camera monitor at the convenience store, wonder who that guy is standing at the counter with the bald spot, and then realize it is a shot of you from behind.

Is Jesus Real?

the-cross.jpgOne of the issues I have been struggling with is the reality of Christ in my life. No, I don’t mean I am struggling to believe that Jesus is real, walked the earth, died for me, rose again, and is in heaven right now waiting for the Father to say, “go get my children.” I believe that. Period.

No, the issue that I struggle with is if Christ is real TO ME. I truly have lived and am living a blessed life, with plenty of material possessions, a wonderful loving wife, 2 beautiful healthy children, a house, cars, etc… So many times I see what is around me and feel that I don’t need Jesus because every thing is good. What a lie Satan has presented me with!

I know I am a sinner, depraved and fallen, and I need Jesus in my life to be complete! But I feel that I have too much to realize that I need him only to be fulfilled and satisfied. I hate that I don’t long for Jesus at all times. I want that passion to know Him, to be more like Him, and to love Him will all I can.

I pray for the passion of and for Christ in my life that I may be all He can make me to be!

Where have I been?!?!

empty-desk.jpgWell to all my loyal fans (thanks to both of them!), I apologize for not posting in a while. I feel like the last month has been a roller coaster of sorts with work, school (teaching and learning!), coaching soccer, and most importantly my family. Well, soccer is over (is that my wife I hear cheering?), I have one Masters of Ed class left for this year before a 5-week break, work is not a crazy, and next week is Thanksgiving! What a great reminder for me to thank God for helping me “survive” and endure. I also need to thank him for the wonderful, supportive and sacrificing wife that I have that has helped me juggle all the stuff I am doing now. (Thanks Schookie Lumps!)

So as on with children (and a wife) that love to sing their own words to songs, I leave you with a Friday laugh, from the great online Biblical source Crosswalk:

*Kids Off Track*

Kids statements that are a little… off track:

* God bless America thru the night with a light from a bulb!

* Oh Susanna, Oh don’t you cry for me, For I come from Alabama with a band-aid on my knee!

* Give us this day our deli bread! Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Whole East Coast.

* We shall come to Joyce’s, bringing in the cheese.

* Gladly, the consecrated, cross-eyed bear.

* He carrots for you.

* Yield Not to Penn Station.

* Dust Around the Throne.

* Praise God From whom all blessings flow, Praise Him all creatures, HERE WE GO

* Olive, the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him names.

* While shepherds washed their socks by night

* He socked me and boxed me with His redeeming glove.

This Month’s Verse:

"For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

-- Isaiah 9:6-7
