Happy New Year!

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

    — Revelation 1:8

fireworksAs we come to the close of another year and look forward to the upcoming one, I am always reminded of this verse. Isn’t it great to know that in this world of endings and finality, God was, is, and always will be there for us. Many people fear the new and unknown and hate to see the familiar end. What do we have to fear? Nothing knowing this undeniable truth!

I hope your new year is blessed by God in all his grace!

‘Twas the day after Christmas

(Thanks again to Crosswalk.com for this!)

*’Twas The Day After Christmas*

Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house, Every creature was hurting– even the mouse.

The toys were all broken, their batteries dead; Santa passed out, with some ice on his head.

Wrapping and ribbons just covered the floor, while Upstairs the family continued to snore.

And I in my T-shirt, new Reeboks and jeans, Went into the kitchen and started to clean.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the sink to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the curtains, and threw up the sash.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a little white truck, with an oversized mirror.

The driver was smiling, so lively and grand; The patch on his jacket said “U.S. POSTMAN.”

With a handful of bills, he grinned like a fox Then quickly he stuffed them into our mailbox.

Bill after bill, after bill, they still came. Whistling and shouting he called them by name:

“Now Dillard’s, now Broadway’s, now Penney’s and Sears Here’s Levitz’s and Target’s and Mervyn’s–all here!!

To the tip or your limit, every store, every mall, Now chargeaway-chargeaway-chargeaway all!”

He whooped and he whistled as he finished his work. He filled up the box, and then turned with a jerk.

He sprang to his truck and he drove down the road, Driving much faster with just half a load.

Then I heard him exclaim with great holiday cheer, “ENJOY WHAT YOU GOT … YOU’LL BE PAYING ALL YEAR!”

Christmas Tradition – Year 1

Ok, I am a guy of traditions. I like my beefstick sandwiches for Christmas Eve. I have to have stuffing (or dressing) at Thanksgiving. I MUST sleep in on my birthday. I take 3 dribbles before shooting a free throw. (That would be with a basketball, not drool…)

So I thought I’d start a new Christmas tradition by sharing some beautiful Christmas music by Santa and the whole Deer Crew with you all…

I wish you a Merry Christmas!

Happy Anniversary!

anniversary_cheer.jpgYes, it has been one year (and a day) since joined the throngs of bloggers! (I meant to post this yesterday, but that darn office Christmas party got in the way!)

As I look back and can’t believe it has been a year since my first post, I thank all of you for the part you all have played in this journey. Keep up the comments and suggestions and overall conversations created thru this medium! I know it sure encourages me!

Merry Christmas!

Exciting News

sugar-baby-rattle.jpgIn a season where the worries and struggles of the world are overly emphasized and highlighted, it is good to hear some great news of God’s blessings being showered upon us.

One of my friends who I have mentioned in a previous blog has recently announced an upcoming addition to her family. Michelle has been battling Rhumatoid Arthritis for a few years, and she is only 32! The great news is that her RA has gone into remission during this time, so she is having a normal pregnancy. (So she is experiencing all the morning sickness, swollen ankles and all the good stuff that goes with pregnancy!)

However this is only the beginning of a long journey for Michelle and her RA. After the baby is born, there is a 1/3 chance her RA will go into complete remission, 1/3 chance she will go back to the way she was, and a 1/3 chance the RA could get worse. So please join with me in prayer thanking God for her blessing and asking for the complete remission option after the baby comes!

This Month’s Verse:

"For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
